While searching for this, I found all sorts of different answers. What I want is the imperative form (command). Not the way you'd tell a cat to get its butt off the piano, and not blatantly sexual, but how you would tell your kid to go back to bed. You know, gentle.
It may be a 6 month course and especially based on secondary language studies.
My friend will be offering a Russian page on his web site. The final text will be supplied, but the site is now live and he wants something to read when you click on the Russian flag. He is looking for the Russian text that means, "This page is currently under construction" or the standard terms meaning that the page is currently unavailable but try again soon. Of course, the text should be in cyrillic script. Thanks.
Which is easier to learn?
Which is cooler to learn?
Which should I learn just for fun, not worrying about any future job prospects as a result of the language or anything?
Which literature is best?
Please don't tell me to use a translating page because they are usually incorrect. Thanks!
I have been thinking of learning a new language for a while now, I've tried to learn Japanese but it wasn't anything for me.
I have some Russian friends both in Russia and here in Sweden and I'm going to Russia next year so I think it would be fun to be able to speak Russian.
I do also have a big interest in their culture and history. =)
And do not bother answering if you are going to use a translator. I've used everything from google to babble fish to russian dictionaries and I want an answer from an honest, russian speaker.
красивая is so normal... is there any special way to describe a beautiful girl?
thanks a lot !
How do you write this in Russian, With the ENglish alphabet not the russian alphabet thanks:::::

I need a russian translation for a marriage proposal. Something along the lines of "Will you be my wife" or "Marry me, my love". Please be as exact as possible.
I really want to learn how to speak Russian, but because I have a mac it is hard for me to find a program to help me learn. I don't have Lepard (misspelled) so I can't use Boot Camp to run windows programs. I'm really tight on cash, so I need something that is either less than or free like a torrent or free/shareware. I downloaded a PDF of Russian for Dummies, but I don't have 350+ pages of computer paper to print it, and the software is comes with runs on windows only. I know my specifications narrow things down a lot but please help me.
Thanks
-Ryan
ps. If there is any way to get a program for french too let me know.
I'm an American, and I took Russian for a while in college, but no Polish.
Since Poland was Communist for many years, and also because it's another Slavic languages, will most Poles be able to speak and understand Russian, too?
My girlfriend of 10 months' Russian father sat me down the other day for a talk. I was sort of blindsided when he asked me what my plans were for having children and the future with his daughter. He said he thought it would be good for us to move in together close to their house so they could take care of the grandkids (which we dont have) and baby sit down the road. I do live 45 minutes away and she lives with her family still . She is 27 im 35. Thats just a small part of the conversation but i think you get the drift. It was pretty funny and was like something out of a "meet the parents Russian version movie. ANy comments is this normal in Russian families, this"talk"?
Can any of you native Russians or Ukrainian tell what "Tak" means? I was ordering in a restaurant in Moscow and the waiter kept on saying "Tak". Was he saying "Uh huh" or "Okay"? And by the way, could you guys some Russian lessons? Thanks:)
I'm from a Russian speaking family but grew up speaking English as my first language. Lately I've been studying written Russian more formally and have been speaking/reading it for hours at a time. I've started to notice that after I've been immersed in Russian for a while, my English isn't as great as it normally is. Words don't come to me as easily and my sentences sound awkward. I write for a living and it's becoming a problem. Has anyone else experienced this?
I was originally born in Russia and I came here to the U.S. when I was 5 1/2 years old. I used to speak Russian, but I lost it because my adopted parent doesn't speak english. I am now 17 and trying to learn Russian again. How long would it take me to relearn the language? Would I ever be able to get my accent back?
I have been wanted to learn Russian for the longest time, my husband is Ukrainian and speaks Russian, what is the quickest way?
It's going on a website and I just want to corroborate what an online translator has given me. Given that, it would be helpful if people who are Russian or know Russian answer. ![]()
Hmm...Russiancatsima, it's not going to link to a thorough explanation of the procedure though, the information is more generalized. What would it be then?
Ok, this seems to be getting confusing. How about "Company Information"?
I just would like to learn how to speak, read and write in Russian.
i don't believe that anybody wants to learn Russian...can you argue with me?
I started getting into learning the Russian language. I would love to visit Russia one day, but I would also love to visit a country in Europe too.
And I was just wondering if there was ANY countries in Europe that spoke or can at least understand Russian. Just out of curiosity (:
I was wondering how "practice positivity" would be written out in Russian and how you would pronounce it.
I want to buy a laptop with true Cyrillic keyboard, not American with Russian stickers on the keys. Where should I look? The laptop could be new or used, depending on what I can get for the money. Thanks.
I would love to get in to some Russian music, since I love the language, but I can't seem to find any. I can't find any Russian bands on iTunes, but their browsing isn't that helpful when it comes to looking for international stuff. Anyone who could reccommend me some stuff that's popular in Russia would be most appreciated, as would YouTube links, but that's not neccessary. Please help!
I've recently become interested in learning the russian language. The only problem is that I've no idea which organisations/schools offer russian as a foreign language, so right now I'm trying to teach myself using internet and audio clips. I really want a tutor to teach me the language properly in person so that I'll be able to learn it faster instead of trying to figure out how the language and various variations to pronounciations/sentence structures work on my own. The 3rd language centres over here don't offer russian as a foreign language, and it's really hard to find russians in singapore. I'm currently in the music conservatory at NUS, and I only know 2 russian teachers of mine. But it's kind of hard to ask them for proper russian lessons in the conservatory when my timetable is getting fuller by the semesters. Plus they aren't trained in teaching languages.
Does anyone know where I can go for proper russian lessons, not counting internet, books or going to russia?
I only hear this phrase, I've never read it so I'm wondering.
I need someone to write, "And we mean it!" in Russian for me. Pretty please?
In Russian, how do you say, "I do not speak Russian. Thank you for asking."
T
Phonetically?
I would like to know the differences in the language that Russian Molokans speak compared to just regular Russian. For example: "God" in regular Russian is "Бог" while "God" in the Molokan Russian is "Спотсе" (sp?)
The Russian Molokans are a religious group originally from Russia, who because of religious freedom, migrated to Guadalupe, Baja California in 1805. This might help someone answer my question ( :
Please give me tips such as what to learn first. Please do not say Rosetta Stone, I do not have 0 to spend on the program.
I need to call my Russian teacher, and I'm afraid her relative, who can't speak English, will answer the phone. How do I ask, "May I speak to Natasha", how will I know if he says she isn't there, and how do I tell him I'll try again later?
I have it install. I was using it but the letters do not appear now when I click alt & shift.
