i found this explanation on the etymology of the word chernobyl.
http://encyclopedia.stateuniversity.com/pages/4322/Chernobyl.html
the reason i bring this up is because i often here end-timers talk about how chernobyl is the russian word for wormwood, which is mentioned in revelations 8:10-11. this would be interesting if the translation were true. however, i really can't find any source outside of end-times websites which make this assertion.
I am looking to learn a language, mostly for business, and not sure which one to learn.

I don't know why this is so difficult to ask, but there is a difference between certain Cyrillic and Latin letters, like ц, ж. д. ф. ч. ю, ш, щ, and э whose stroke orders aren't obvious when looked at. Can someone *please* direct me to an example of how these are written, not in handwriting, but how those are listed right there.
I don't want the actual Russian word for Unit, I want how you would spell it as if trying to teach a Russian how to pronounce the English word. What I came up with was Унит
Which is generally more difficult for people do you think? Of course, I think Russian is easy to speak and read because it's my native language. So, I need a second opinion please. Thank you.
Can anyone who speaks Russian fluently tell me the proper pronunciation of хватает?
I'm writing a story. I don't have all the phrases the one character is going to say to the other, but he's often going to call her "Little one" or "Little bit" due to her small size. I need it in English characters though so I can type it up. Also if you know of any websites that do an English to Russian translation in English characters I'd appreciate it, though I know those will just be a guideline.

I have to write an article about an event or something during Jospeh Stalins peak of his ruling or whatever, and its supposed to parallel a newspaper form that time, where there was a lot of propaganda to promote him. but i am not really finding anything good taht he did. how can i make it seem like what he is doing is good?

I've noticed that there seems to be some trends in Czech and Russian grammar, and since Czech is a Western Slavic language, and Russian is an Eastern Slavic language, does this mean they are quite similar coming from the common ancestor of Old Slavic?
Many of the programs I have found online are run by private companies set up at universities. Im looking for a program run by the university with the aim of making foreigners fluent in Russian.
