Myself and a group of friends are planning on making a movie that involves the use of Russian accents.
I am one who is horrible with being able to speak with any sort of accent.
Is there any possible way to learn and be able to speak with a strong russian accent at all?
I am not sure if only some people can learn or if everyone is capable of learning and successfully developing an accent.
I'm going to the library soon and hopefully I'll be able to borrow some useful how to speak/read Russian books. It's not my first time learning a different language; I had Japanese class last year at school and I really regret quitting so I'm going to do it again next year. I'm not really good at remembering the katakana though, so I don't think I will go well with Russian script but I'm going to really try because I've always wanted to learn a different language. I don't know a spot of Russian so any really easy beginner books with be great. Thank you very much! ![]()
In my Russian-language textbook, it has stress marks on top of the letters. For instance, on the phrase номер телефона (telephone number), there are stress marks on top of the o's in each word.
If I were actually writing out Russian myself, am I supposed to write the stress marks or not?
Privet ! B kakom gorode tu zivesh`? what does that mean? thanx in advance!
Does anyone have any tips on how I can introduce myself to Russian opera? I study Russian so I'd like to familiarize myself in a way that will help me improve my Russian. I also took an Italian opera history class so I know about that sort of opera but I really want to learn more about Slavic opera in particular.
Do you have any suggestions for specific operas I should look into, brilliant productions that are available on youtube, or books that can help me??
I'm so confused. The paper is supposed to talk about Russia's part in World War 1, Karl Marx. Leon Trotsky, Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, why there was a revolution and how long the civil war lasted. What thesis statement could relate to all of this? HELP please
i need a translation please!
is there anything wrong in the Russian writing from the sign?

I assume theres not a program for 14 year olds, but I want to learn Systema, the Russian martial arts that they are taught in the army.
You know, like Crime and Punishment and The Brother's Karamazov? They're originally written in Russian but have been translated into English. Do you know any other novels like that?
Can't find anything in Google and the closest I can find is all bold typeface on some old sheet music - I'd like it to be a little more ornate font-wise (it is for a tattoo). Can anyone please help? Ideally Sergei Rachmaninoff would be best. Many thanks indeed.
Or that some feel no need to learn Hebrew? Considering much of the organized crime stems from contacts within these communities with the "motherland". It seems to me they're more concerned about being Russian than either Jewish or Israeli.
Any web site,cd or cassette that speaks the Russian language followed by the English translation? i would like to listen to these as i sleep,in the car or what ever. i have been studying Russian for 1 1/2 yeas now and can converse in the language somewhat. also does anyone know if subliminal cd's work? thanks!!
and reading and writing in it as well? This must be an on-line school as I have very little time to take classes at a college or language school, time is money!
Links would be appreciated, and thanks for your time!
My name is Rachael Connolly.
I need to know how to pronounce it and also how to recognize the possible answers they might give me ("he's not here" or "yes, I'll pass him the phone")
I plan on applying to work for the World Bank in a couple of years. I already know English and I've been taking German for the past two years...but it's not on their list for needed languages, so I guess I should gain some basic knowledge in one of these two.
glupaya suka? How would you say that in english??? I know what it means in russian, but I am having a hard time in english?
There’s a new guy at my work, who acts weird towards me. His gf works on another floor, he works on my floor. Since his first day he always tried to talk to me. He would try to make me laugh, flirt, & always come by my desk & initiate a conversation. He’s very polite, but he but would always talk to me more. Once he found out I’m Russian , he would try to talk Russian to me even though he’s NOT Russian. Once he said to me in Russian, “Bye, be a good girl”. Everyday, he would try to talk a little Russian to me. Hewould try to make me laugh, & HE was the one always initiates a conversation by coming by desk. Everything was fine until I decided to initiate a conversation but it turned awkward. I asked him if he had fun the other night, he said yes but didn’t say more. Then he asked me what I did, I told him I didn’t do much. He said “Did you have a glass of wine & watch a movie? I got shy, kinda blushed, then I looked at him in a weird way, then I looked away. He then said “oh the weather is nice” then walked away. For 2 weeks after that he stopped talking to me. He would barely say hi & seem uncomfortable towards me. He went from flirting & talking to me every day to not talking to me at all?? In these 2 weeks I also ignored him, I didn’t say anything cuz he seemed like he wanted space plus he’s a jerk for ignoring me for no reason. Now, after 2 weeks of nothing he finally said something to me a few days ago. He walked by my desk, then leaned towards me & said “I have a question for you. How do u say good afternoon in Russian”. I told him then he said thanks. What he up with him??? Why did he ignore me for 2 weeks then now ask me a random question??? Then on Monday he asked how my weekend was & touched my arm
Can you please explain his behavior??? How can I talk to him again?
"I don't even know you personally, but I am trying my best to help you. I told you I will get back to you in one week with what you requested. Earlier, you requested for the Gallery's phone number and email address, I researched it for you. Besides, everything is close here until Monday. It's the "Holy Week". It's still day number 5 today, and you write a letter assuming that everybody has to help you when you want, disregarding the needs of other people. You are not the only one who needs to earn money, everybody needs to. You need to grow up. Don't act like a child, who has to have what he wants right away."
Thank you in advance. I need to send this to a person, and I do not want to risk misunderstanding because of language barrier. My Russian is very poor. Thank you for your help.
I am having difficulty with French in College. Yet i am learning Russian, Mandarin and Farsi easily from language exchange partners. I come from an English speaking family. I listen to music on youtube in Russian, Farsi and Turkish. I watch Movies in Mandarin, Japanese, and Hindi. I am currently an A student in French.
I'm going to be doing charity work in Romania in a few months and it was mentioned during a meeting that the older people we will be helping can probably only speak Romania and Russia (as appose to English) and while I am fluent in neither, my Russian is better than my Romanian but I have read in some countries speaking Russian doesn't go down very well. I was wondering if it would be alright for me to use Russian since I find that easier but I don't want to cause any negativity or anything.
Hello , how are you?? long time not write you?? I happy to hear that you change your life in healthy life... !! So how living up to the daily routine?
Can someone tranlate this to english please?
Tebe nravit'sja etot kok? And how do I answer this question???

what is the quickest way to learn russian without actually going to russia?
The man in my life loves the Russian language and essentially everything about Russia.
I would like to be able to write and say an endearing term in Russian. In English, it's not unusual to call each other dear, sweetheart, love, etc, and I want to know if there's something like this in Russian.
I've seen lots of things to call girls, but those don't help.
Has anyone tried it and what success did you have with the program?
I know they spoke Russian, but I know Alexandra's native language is English. So did Alexandra learn Russian and Nicholas learn English? And what about the kids? Were they all bilingual?
I am trying to use this information in a paper and I can't figure out who it was for the life of me. It was a US President that disclosed to the media that we could clearly see Russian radars and could tell they were lying about something. Does anybody know what I am talking about?
I will check on that one, but the one I am looking for was an earlier president.
I am equally fluent in German, English and Russian.
I always wanted to write a story but one thing always stopped me, in what language should I write it? (And why)
Maybe you got any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
I always thought that Sibelius was the master of modes even more so than the great Russian composers. Agree?
