Mussolini was fluent in German.
he spoke the language of hate. So did stalin and musalini.
He used interpreters.
I would imagine there were translators available for them. Also, German was very popular in Russia of the time, so there is a chance Stalin did speak it.
Mind, Hitler and Stalin wouldn’t speak face to face because they were not allies: whatever one thinks of the Stalin regime, the greatest part of the victory over Hitler certainly belongs to the USSR.
Their is only one recording of him speaking naturally, in his own relaxed voice in German, he used translate rs to talk to non German speakers.
Her would have used interpreters NOT translators to converse with them. Translators
deal with the written word, interpreters with the spoken word.
He used interpreters as did Mussolini and Stalin. All 3 of them had never lower themselves to speak the languages of the others even if they had known the languages in question.
Mussolini not Musalini.
to answer your question: I think they had interpreters..
