Do you ever have trouble switching between English and Russian?
I'm from a Russian speaking family but grew up speaking English as my first language. Lately I've been studying written Russian more formally and have been speaking/reading it for hours at a time. I've started to notice that after I've been immersed in Russian for a while, my English isn't as great as it normally is. Words don't come to me as easily and my sentences sound awkward. I write for a living and it's becoming a problem. Has anyone else experienced this?

I also am from a Russian speaking family and I came to California when I was one. We spoke Russian at home and English outside. So I turned out fluent in both languages. I guess you can say Russian was my first language because I only started school when I was 4. Sometimes I have trouble speaking Russian when I have been around English for a long time, but it goes away after about an hour. So I think your case might be unique.
None at all. But as I don’t speak Russian, that’s hardly surprising.
i have the exact same problem!!!!!!! i thought i was the only one! =O
i went to ukraine for 2 weeks this summer(they speak russain there too) and wen i came back i had a real big problem starting to talk in english again. den i went to an american camp for 3 weeks. dats wen i noticed my english got better and it was easier for me to talk and i prounounced words better. but after i came back home, and started talkin to my parents in russain, my english started getting worse again. its a constant battle and worry for me!
