The only Russian word that resembles your last name is "gotsat’", which is a colloquial term for "dance" used in some areas of Russian federation and neighbouring republics and originated from Russian prison jargon.
what’s the word ?
go to google.com then at the side you will see Language Tools.
You can easily translate your word there.
The Language tool will also translate the entire phrase if you need ^^
Would be more helpful if the word was provided.
I speak a little- very little, but it’d help to know what word.
Doesn’t sound like a Russian name at all. Sounds much more like the German name "Gottschalk". It’s possible that one of your Grandfather’s ancestors was a German who moved to Russia.
