Is there anyone who's initial language is english that learned Russian fluently? If so, how did you do it and how was it? I'm looking into learning the language myself?

I am a native English/German speaker.
I learned Russian and speak it well with little/few errors.
It’s a very long story. I live in New York City in a community with a LOT of native Russians. I work at a Russian Supermarket, and have Russian speaking friends. But it didn’t start out that way.
You should download Rosetta Stone and use it OFTEN.
Movies and music are also great. There’s so much to do, but R.S is definitely a GREAT START.
not me… sorry, i’m trying to learn german
yes, I did. it took me six months just to start learning the basic words and alphabet, another six months to learn common and useful expressions, and some more six months to actually speak Russian with Russian speakers, which corrected my many many mistakes. finally, these last six months (totaling a whole of two years) I’ve been reading original texts in Russian, including books and magazines, which helps me a lot to improve my knowledge and fluency.
