How can I find the character pronunciation in a French or Russian novel?

I love the English translations of French, Russian, and Spanish novels. Since I have never studied a foreign langauage, the pronunciation of the character's names have often been a mystery.

I’m not sure other than perhaps a french-english dictionary. If you would’ve posted the names I probably could’ve helped..well the french ones not russian probably.
