Some e mail programs simply do not accept Russian.
I have the same problem. my mail does not work in Russian, no matter what i do.
It works in instant messenger, though, so try to send her off line messenger, or IM her.
You also could create a document in Words, and send it as attachment, you can write it manually, and send it as image, or post it into your blog for here…
There are some ways around that problem.
I often use http://www.translation.paralink.com to translate my english to Russian when talking with my Ukrainian girlfriend in Ukraine. Thing is both your and her computer have to recognize russian fonts. Also you may consider getting a Russian E-mail Account at http://www.mail.ru pay no mind to the Russian. you can use the above link to copy and paste the russian words and get a translation into english and sign up from there. I am sure she has a .ru account. it actually translates your english into russian for her! Good luck and Privet! (Hello!) удачи! (good luck)

Any Windows computer (I do not know anything about Mac) can be made to type in different languages. You can use separate programs for this, of just have Windows do it (without installing additional programs.) And you can do it in ANY email program or anywhere else, where you can type.
It’s easy to do, but it will take forever to explain here. Just look in Windows Help how to add a language and how to switch key board between languages (it will show you which Russian letters will be typed, when you push buttons on your regular key board.)
Or Google "Russian in Windows" or something like that and you’ll get a bunch of sites explaining how to do it.
Write those perfect things in english instead… problem solved!
