But, my husband is friends with a man and his wife who adopted a five year old girl from Russia and this man's father was able to communicate with this little girl quite well because of his Czech language. It really helped the little girl adjust very well. I try to speak Russian whenever I can now and am so glad I never lost my knowledge of basic conversational Russian.
