How long might it take a person of average intelligence to learn to read Russian, not speak or listen?

Suppose the person is a native English speaker.
Suppose the person wishes to read the great works of Russian literature.
Can you suggest some good books?

Some people could get some sense of it in 2 years or so, though for most of us it’ll probably take >4 years studying really hard.
Try for example these free resources http://www.russianforeveryone.com or http://www.masterrussian.com just to check how easy/difficult it feels to get the basics. Good luck!
my native language is russian and i learned to read it when i was like 6 so it will probably take 6 years
