I can't tell if my new neighbors are russian or Bosnian.Sounds like they speak russian.Their kids speak englis

My new neighbors speak either bosnian or russian I can't tell,but their daughters speak fluent english and their native language.Which is which.Are they similar language's.I think it's pretty cool that children from other countries can speak english and their native language.

why don’t you ask the kids where they’re from?
did u know that some Bosnians speak Russian? that people from the Ukraine speak Russian? that people from Kazakhstan speak Russian but look Asian? people from anywhere can speak russian
It’s like in the country I live Spanish is the main language, but English is the 2nd official language and is pretty coll to hear them speaking both almost at the same time, besides all the words they already have adapted to their Spanish, some people call it Spanglish.
You can just walk in greet them and ask them which country they are from. Remember anyone from any country can learn and speak any language.
Why do you assume they are necessarily from Bosnia?
They could also be Serbian, Croatian, Slovenian, Macedonian or Bulgarian. All those languages have similar expressions but very individualistic ethnic identities.

No, even though they might sound similar, Russian and Bosnian are two different languages. I’m Russian, and I would never understand Bosnian. The alphabet is probably the same though, but I’m not sure.
It would seem the logical
thing to do would be to
ask the daughters were
they are from, and what
language they speak.
Do not assume it is either
Russian or Bosnian — it
could be another language,
but you have a wonderful
opportunity to open communications
with some people who are probably
eager for a friendly face, gesture.
Ask them to start teaching you some
basics, and communicate with their
parents a word at a time.

It could be serbian or croatian too. Only thing that is similar with two languages is that they are slavic. Nothing else. I am serbian and I cant understand russian, and very few people here do, cause nobody learns it anymore. My aunt studied russian though.

No, Bosnian and Russian are not all that similar. If the kids speak English, I recommend that you just ask them. "Hey, what language do you guys speak at home?"
