Minor in Russian language or change minor?
I am entering college this Fall. I plan to major in International Studies with a minor in Russian language and literature. I plan on studying Spanish at the same time, and then I want to study Arabic in graduate school. I want to gain employment in the Foreign Service or CIA.
I know some people say the need for Russian language is obsolete. Should I keep Russian as my minor, or should I choose a different minor and just study Russian courses?

Russian is far from obsolete. That it might be less fashionable now than during the Cold War is true but I’d say in a sense that is a point in favour of taking it. This will give you a language that few others with a fresh IR degree will have. And trying to predict 5 or 10 years down the line what will be a hot-button language is a fool’s game. Stick with your game plan and good luck.
Start studying now practicing it is the best way to learn.
