I've always wanted to travel to Russia and I'm learning the language right now, slowly by myself. None of the colleges around me has classes for the Russian language, so appearantly it's not that big of a concern to them. Do you see any real benefit to learning this language?

OF COURSE!!! It is my home country!!!
And did you know Russian is used in buisness often. The top five languages in buisness are: English, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Russian.
Learn it, it will help!!! And the more languages you know, the better!!
Of course. It has been your dream so go do it. Besides colleges, look into adult education classes in neighboring towns, Russian churches, etc.
I learned Thai on my own plus took a few classes through a local Thai temple.
I’ve also hosted foreign exchange students. If you are a responsible person consider hosting a Russian exchange student. http://www.yfu.org
Russian is an awesome sounding language. There is always a benefit to learning a second language, no matter what one it is.
yes learning a 2nd language is a great idea, for starters it will help u out when u go to russia lol instead of trying to find people who talk english all the time and 2nd of all because it looks fantastic in a job resume if u ever want a new career
Yes! It’s a major world language with over 200 million speakers. You’ll be able to communicate not only with Russians but also those who were members of the former Soviet Union.
I’ve been trying to learn this language myself, and it’s been going slowly too.
да, конечно тебе нужен русский если ты хочешь в Россию ехать!
Ты можешь купить CDs которые тебе помогут учить русский.
Of course you should! Nothing you learn is ever wasted. Even if you never use Russian again, even if you forget most of it, at the very least it’s good mental exercise. I found learning a third language (German) easier once I’d learnt a second (French), and I find I can understand quite a bit of written Spanish, Italian and Dutch because of having learnt those (25 years ago!).
