Sure, why not!

I speak Russian and it is great language - very beautiful and poetic.

Your son will get only benefit. Speaking foreign languages broader your horizons tremendously! :)

Well, knowing languages is always good. If his granparents can teach him some Russian maybe there's no need but if you really want to I see no harm.

He should be able to learn a lot from his grandparents. It will not harm him to have lessons as long as he enjoys them. I am not sure you will be able to find formal lessons for one that little, but if you can, it could be fun for him and give him something to show his grandparents.

Absolutely! I can't think of a single downside for a child learning a second language, unless of course they hate it. The grandparents will do a wonderful job in teaching how to speak properly (no teenage slang, and so on), but lessons could be very helpful a little further down the road for understanding the complex grammatical structure, vs simply doing it.

It will also help the child's future in learning a third language, which would benefit him in this growing international world, if he so desires. Aside from the educational reasons, it's also nice to embrace a piece of family history that can very easily be lost. I'm still disappointed in how my grandpa never taught my mom to speak Norwegian.
