Should I give my child Russian language lessons?
My husband is Russian, but I'm not. Our son is 2.5 years old and is really close to my husband's parents mostly because they live only 25 minutes away from us. My son stays a lot of weekends with them. He is already learning Russian words from them, but should I get my son into Russian language lessons with a Russian teacher?
Francopicard- Are you on the same planet as the rest of us? LOL.
Francopicard- maybe Obama will soon become president of Kenya rather than USA. LOL.

The child must more learn russian now, because it will too late learn it after 5 years age, english is more easy to teach child…
I think that would be wonderful! I wish my parents had me learn a second language when I was little.
yea why not. the more languages he learns the more of the world opens up for him
Sure why not, this is the best time to teach them more then one language they will pick it up fast, he will pick up a lot just by being with your in laws it will definatly benifit him in the long run!
Good Job
Yes , by all means do! I have always felt bad because my relatives did not pass on Swedish and German to us younger ones.
Does your husband speak Russian?
I know people who have bilingual families. One parent speaks to the children in English while the other parent uses his/her native language with the children.
Your son will thank you some day.
Sure, unless he could learn the language from your husband’s parents.
are u planning in applying him in the CIA? But why not, great language to learn
yes – your son can become fluent in both English and Russian, without an accent, if he learns both languages while he is very young.
i would for sure. Knowing Russian would open so many doors for him!
Not only will your child be capable of picking up the second language (Russian) quickly, but later on when he is required to learn a second language as part of his academic studies in middle or high school, he will pick it up a lot quicker than most of his classmates will.
One of the supposedly best instructional aids for children to learn a foreign language is the "Muzzy" video set put out by the BBC. The video features cartoon characters holding conversations and teaching basic words in the language of your choice. It is supposedly the most successful second-language program for children.
Your husband can teach him and you basic Russian words around the house, if he hasn’t already. He can give your son an object, like a toy truck, and have him try to say the word "truck" in Russian. When he succeeds, give him the toy truck to play with.
Studies have shown that children who learn a second language tend to develop more intellectually and perform better in school. They tend to score higher on standardized tests, including both the verbal and mathematical portions of the SAT. They tend to exhibit more advanced problem-solving skills and have a clearer understanding of theEnglish structure and vocabulary. A lot of words we say in English are derivatives of words from another language, and almost all modern languages have roots in Latin, mainly any European nation language like French or Spanish. When your child becomes an adult, since he will have a second language under his belt, he may have a better career opportunity.
There are also studies that show that learning a second language will boost his brain power. If he learns now, he will excel greatly throughout school.
Russians love their culture a lot.The parent of your husband are grooming your child with Russian language and culture because they probably plan for live to Russia altogether. Many Russians do this nowadays but don’t be too naive until you lost child custody in a foreign country with foreign rules after "possible "divorce.
I think its always great to learn, and he can learn it really good because he can practice with russian speaking people and that is the best way to learn
I will most certainly make sure that my child learns Russian in additional to the 2 languages she currently speaks (Ukrainian and English). Speaking Russian makes sense – no doubt about it.
definitely! and also, it would be great if he spoke only russian with his dad and grandparents. but, a teacher is definitely a great idea because then he will be able to read, write and speak a second language.
I would say to continue the learning of the Russian language, especially for a young child like yours. The younger the better. They seem to grasp it better!!It seems the older you get the harder it is to pick up another language. He might be a little to young for teacher lessons, but at least continue to introduce the language/basic vocab to the child. all the advantage to him!!!
