Yes , by all means do! I have always felt bad because my relatives did not pass on Swedish and German to us younger ones.
Does your husband speak Russian?
I know people who have bilingual families. One parent speaks to the children in English while the other parent uses his/her native language with the children.
Your son will thank you some day.

yes - your son can become fluent in both English and Russian, without an accent, if he learns both languages while he is very young.

Not only will your child be capable of picking up the second language (Russian) quickly, but later on when he is required to learn a second language as part of his academic studies in middle or high school, he will pick it up a lot quicker than most of his classmates will.

One of the supposedly best instructional aids for children to learn a foreign language is the "Muzzy" video set put out by the BBC. The video features cartoon characters holding conversations and teaching basic words in the language of your choice. It is supposedly the most successful second-language program for children.

Your husband can teach him and you basic Russian words around the house, if he hasn't already. He can give your son an object, like a toy truck, and have him try to say the word "truck" in Russian. When he succeeds, give him the toy truck to play with.

Studies have shown that children who learn a second language tend to develop more intellectually and perform better in school. They tend to score higher on standardized tests, including both the verbal and mathematical portions of the SAT. They tend to exhibit more advanced problem-solving skills and have a clearer understanding of theEnglish structure and vocabulary. A lot of words we say in English are derivatives of words from another language, and almost all modern languages have roots in Latin, mainly any European nation language like French or Spanish. When your child becomes an adult, since he will have a second language under his belt, he may have a better career opportunity.

There are also studies that show that learning a second language will boost his brain power. If he learns now, he will excel greatly throughout school.
