It sound great but i don't understand what they are saying.

need help with Russian pronunciation?

im learning russian through audio tapes, which seem to helping a bit, but im stuck on something-
i don't know the russian alphabet,so im just going to write it in english typing.

you understand : vree banyimayitse
i understand: ya banyimayou
i dont understand: yani banyimayou

<---what i need help on is the 'yani' part- how exactly is it pronounced? the tape said the 'nie' sound is the negative word to denote 'not' or 'don't', but i can't hear that sound when they say it. i just hear yiani

and so how would you say for example, 'not very well'? nie ohchin harasho ? or smth like that? how is the negative pronounced?

and also words like banyimayitse (understand) & bazshouvayitse (are living), is it pronounced +tse or +kye at the end. its hard to hear.

this sounds completely stupid. but id like to know.
thanks

There’s a new guy at my work, who acts weird towards me. His gf works on another floor, he works on my floor. Since his first day he always tried to talk to me. He would try to make me laugh, flirt, & always come by my desk & initiate a conversation. He’s very polite, but he but would always talk to me more. Once he found out I’m Russian , he would try to talk Russian to me even though he’s NOT Russian. Once he said to me in Russian, “Bye, be a good girl”. Everyday, he would try to talk a little Russian to me. Hewould try to make me laugh, & HE was the one always initiates a conversation by coming by desk. Everything was fine until I decided to initiate a conversation but it turned awkward. I asked him if he had fun the other night, he said yes but didn’t say more. Then he asked me what I did, I told him I didn’t do much. He said “Did you have a glass of wine & watch a movie? I got shy, kinda blushed, then I looked at him in a weird way, then I looked away. He then said “oh the weather is nice” then walked away. For 2 weeks after that he stopped talking to me. He would barely say hi & seem uncomfortable towards me. He went from flirting & talking to me every day to not talking to me at all?? In these 2 weeks I also ignored him, I didn’t say anything cuz he seemed like he wanted space plus he’s a jerk for ignoring me for no reason. Now, after 2 weeks of nothing he finally said something to me a few days ago. He walked by my desk, then leaned towards me & said “I have a question for you. How do u say good afternoon in Russian”. I told him then he said thanks. What he up with him??? Why did he ignore me for 2 weeks then now ask me a random question??? Then on Monday he asked how my weekend was & touched my arm
Can you please explain his behavior??? How can I talk to him again?

How can I talk friendly to him.?

There’s a new guy at my work, he’s only here for 1 month. His gf works on another floor, he works on my floor. Since his first day he always trys to talk to me. Thank you very much!!

For reasons I won't bore you with, I want to learn to speak & write Russian. Or whatever could be considered the most mainstream, and likely-to-endure-as-mainstream, language easily understood and spoken by a good majority of people in the former USSR nation states.

Not looking to take college classes right now or hire expensive tutor.

Of course I can google things.....and I get a zillion results for learning language, but what is the BEST way if anyone has some real experience - in a low cost way to begin learning Russian? Good websites / material / books from library - something I can handle and won't get too overwhelmed doing a little each day?

currently, I am fluent in english and spanish.

Can i speak Russian before 2011 August?

I wanted to know if i am capable of speaking Russian before August, 2011.
Right now, i study 2 hours of Russian everyday. (1 hour with tutor & 1 hour by myself)
I'm curious to know if i can speak Russian in a year. Right now I can speak simple sentences, but i know how to make semi-medium to medium hard sentences by myself, but it takes a bit of a time to process.

I know how to write sentences as long as, "I saw the man we talked about yesterday, at the market."

It's only been 2 weeks since I learned...I try really hard and I'm also a fast learner.
So do you think i can learn how to speak (not necessarily write) Russian fluently in 1 year?
I also know how to write in present, and future. I know some word and know perfectly how to conjugate. The problem is i still need to learn how to make longer sentences with a wider variety of vocabulary. I also need to speak faster without thinking much.

How do you write 'Gordonovna' in russian cyrillic?

How can I enable russian language in microsoft word 2007?

I have it install. I was using it but the letters do not appear now when I click alt & shift.

As much as I know, Russian doesn't have any influence upon (Latin) America, Africa, & Australia, but perhaps it is generally regarded as an important language in Europe & Asia, the question is that, how important is Russian respectively in Europe & Asia. & Is Russian really harder than German in aspects of grammar, cases, gender, & syntax ? And is Russian really much easier than Arabic? Thanks !
