Hi where can I learn Russian for free online? I want to learn how to sound out the letters and learn how to read each letter. Any online lessons in learning are okay with me

Please do not spam me with dumb software I have to download that isn't free.

I would like to learn to speak and read Russian. Does anyone know of a free and easy way to learn Russian? I would prefer to find online lessons, particular any mp3 podcasts or something of that sort that I can import into my Ipod . . . thanks!
by the way, I have a Russian girlfriend, hence the motivation to learn in a more formal way. We are both too busy, and live in different cities, so I have to find a way to learn on my own.
Thank you all for your suggestions. Many of your sources point to expensive materials, however. I should emphasize that I'm looking, if possible, for something FREE, and moving to Russia is neither free nor a feasible option for me right now. Thank you again for your suggestions so far.
