HOW DO YOU SAY:
1) HELLO, HOW ARE YOU? IS IT "PREE-VEE-YETT?"
AND (2) WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OR MEANING OF "HA-DA-SHO"
BEGINNING TO START LEARNING RUSSIAN SOON, OBVIOUSLY NUMBER ONE IS THE MOST COMMON IN ANY LANGUAGE AND I'VE HEARD #2 PLENTY OF TIMES AMONGST MY FRIEND'S PARENTS AND RELATIVES. FOR ANYONE THAT IS RUSSIAN, PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR WRITING RUSSIAN WORDS/PHRASES INCORRECTLY. I'M UNSURE OF HOW IT IS SPELLED OR SAID, HENCE THAT IS WHY I AM ASKING. THANKS

Okay, I am Russian, and can understand and speak Russian. I just cannot read or write it. I'm 13, and my parents moved to the USA when I was 3, so I never have ever had a chance to learn the alphabet. I bought the book, Russian in 10 Minutes a Day, and it is a workbook, and has tons of information. My Russian Opera singing teacher wants me to learn it, so I can sing in Russian. I just need to know the Cyrillic alphabet to understand it. My next singing lesson is next Wednesday. How can I learn just the alphabet fast. My BFF who is Polish and Hungarian, learned it in literatly 1 day. So, anyway I can know it well in a few days?

My parents speak Russian at home, though they speak just regular Russian. I can speak it, though If was talking to someone who's like 16-18, I'll probably be a tad difficult to understand everything that is said.

I've been married to my husband for several years. He's from Russia and we have a son. My husband and I speak English together. Sometimes his parents speak Russian and I'm left out of conversations, but rarely. Now we're teaching our son Russian and I wonder if I should learn Russian too. I haven't been motivated, because my husband and his family speak English when I'm around. My husband's taught me some Russian words, but he didn't seem to care if I learned Russian or not. Should I learn Russian? If so, what's the easiest way to learn Russian? Should I have my husband teach me, get audio tapes at the library, or take a Russian language course?

I'm 13 years old and in grade 8 and I only speak English. I guess I am pretty young to be even trying to learn but I want to give it a shot. I'm really interested in learning how to speak Russian and Egyptian -I know they are two totally different languages but I think it would be cool to learn them- but I just don't know where to start. I've grown up around parents who are just not the type who'd be supportive about me learning something like this, or anything really. I have the time and the patience to learn it but there's no one to teach me so, I was wondering maybe if there was a good book for beginners? (for me a book would be the easiest but I'm also open to learning from a website online though it would have to be free) I know it won't be as accurate as learning from someone who actually speaks the language but I can try at the very least. Plus I figure that if I get the basics of it now then maybe it might be easier for me to learn later when I find someone who can teach me. Can you help me please?? even if it is just your opinion I'm open to anything.
P.S
--- I mainly want to learn Egyptian since I find their culture the most interesting.
Thank you!

I heard there was a child who spoke Russian and the parents had no idea what he was speaking till someone advised them it was Russian. The baby was never around any one other than English speaking people. Is this true?

Saw Russian talk show with some parents of those students. One of the congressman there said, "what is ,000,000 for USA? No big deal" . The parents claimed their kids had no idea they were wrongdoing. Bulls---t is you ask me.

My friend wants me to teach him Russian but I said no since I don't have the time. Then he asked me how he should get started learning Russian Words or Alphabet. I have no idea because I just know from when my parents taught me.

If you live in the West, how do you crackdown on your kids speaking too much English at home? I know my parents forbid the use of the English language in the house, I don't know if I should go that extreme...?

I didn't see it last night but on last week's episode, where they all went out for Daniel's b-day and got called into a secret interrogation room, he claimed he speaks 5 languages and some lady asked him in Russian "do you speak Russian?" and he was stumbling and making excuses. What the hell? How does he have an accent if he doesn't speak Russian? Do you think the show is fake and he is a paid actor?
If his parents are from Russia, then they would speak Russian at home and he would learn it, too!

My husband is Russian, but I'm not. Our son is 2.5 years old and is really close to my husband's parents mostly because they live only 25 minutes away from us. My son stays a lot of weekends with them. He is already learning Russian words from them, but should I get my son into Russian language lessons with a Russian teacher?
