The man in my life loves the Russian language and essentially everything about Russia.
I would like to be able to write and say an endearing term in Russian. In English, it's not unusual to call each other dear, sweetheart, love, etc, and I want to know if there's something like this in Russian.
I've seen lots of things to call girls, but those don't help.
I have started taking russian lessons and i am really passionate about it !! cuz my grandfather is russian but i wasn't born in russia and cant speak a word !! ( i mean i can say basic stuff and read cyrilic "menia zavut Ivan" ) LOL , but since i had my 1st lesson in russian today !! if i carry on learning igt with lessons !!! how long does it take until i can :
1. understand russians
2. speak russian with quite a good grammar
Whenever I watch a Russian political guest or a an entreviewer coming on a program, I notice that he/ she speaks pure almost flawless Arabic unlike the other foreigners including the Americans who with no offence speak the worse ever heard Arabic.
Is it related to the verygood Arabic classes they have in Russia , the long historical relations between the Arab world and the Russian Empire, the similarities that might exist between the Arabic and Russian languages or simply because the Russain studend study harder than his counterpart?
I'm writing a paper on the rise of the fashion empire in Russia. I started off with explaining the restrictions on art , but i need at least 300-400 words in this paragraph.
Here is my frame work"
Introduction
1 - Culture, control of culture. (art) and economic status then the economic collapse
2- After the collapse restrictions were loosened and fashion became very popular in Russia
3- brief talk about economic disaster in 2008
4- The rise of fashion in Russia
Conclusion
Hi everyone!
I have a site where I write about dating online, the Russian language, Russian girls and Russian culture. I also offer Russian translation services and other online services.
The site is: http://www.aerotranslate.com/
I add new material on my site almost every day. However, I would be really interested to know what people from other countries want to learn about Russia. Please, share your curiosity and questions with me, and I'll try to answer them here or on my site.
Thank you!
I wanna learn how to speak Russian, I'm 15, I don't know if that makes much a difference. But yeah I wanna go to Russia someday in my life and I just wanna learn how to speak Russian. So how hard would it be to speak it, I mean it is easy to learn? And what are some good programs that I could possibly use to learn?
I understand Russian, can read it and write it, but when it comes to me speaking it, I can't remember many words so I'd always get stuck. What would be the easiest way for me to become fluent? I'm going to Russia for a month in July and I want to be able to speak it 'easily'. Would listening to Russian songs and translating them help?
I've looked around and I see three things
-Rosetta Stone
-Pimsleur
-Going and living in Russia...
I don't want to just learn the words, I would like to learn the grammar and the written word too.Could I do this all in about 7 years? Anyways, thanks in advance!
I am trying to find local russian communities online that I can talk to people about the culture. I am not trying to meet women so please do not suggest Dating sites or Marriage Sites. I just want to speak with people who have first had experience living in Russia and maybe to help me with learning to speak proper Russian.
Its just interesting for me as a Russian to see what, if any, football clubs from Russia are known abroad and why. Would be grateful if you guys can give me some answers! Talking about soccer, guys, if you americans are wandering!=)
I am considering moving to Russia where I hear English teachers are very much needed. They tell me that although students in this country (and countries where Russian is spoken) are already being taught English in their respective schools, I would be focusing more on helping them in everyday non-grammatical conversational English? To any English teachers out there that have done this, what is the best way to go about this? What strategies have you used? What books have helped you? Thanks
I'd like to learn Russian, because im interested in Russia and the cyrillic alphabet looks so unique..
anyways, if i were determined and interested in learning it.... how hard would it be?
Can anyone teach me russian, or where to learn russian, I can't afford rosetta stone, I don't have any social networking- facebook, skype, myspace, none of that. What is the cheapest but most reliable way to get to Russia?
For anyone that would want to try learning online, I can't use social networking sites. If there is something that can work around this like a pen pal, that would be great.
if a 25 year old from america moved to russia/ china/ saudi arabia and immersed in the culture. how many years would it take to reach basic written and spoken fluency in arabic, russian, chinese.

She is Russian and was born in Russia.
I was trying to say this - You mean more to me than the moon and the stars. I am so thankful for your presence in my life. I willingly give my body, heart, and mind to you. I pray that you keep them well. I love you Ekaterina. I love you with all of my heart.

I've been considering picking up the language now for some time now, but I feel that since Russia is having problems with Russian Ethnic and Racial Nationalist, it would be a waste of time after simply studying it. Any thoughts?
Nobody seems to talk much about them these days, but the Russians are making some nifty cars, some of which I really wouldn't mind owning - stuff with V8s, 4x4s, you name it.
Are they doing crash tests in Russia, too, I wonder?
I would really love to learn Russian and study abroad there. Part of my cultural background is Russian and I would love to "dive deeper" into their history, traditions, and language.
Can anyone give me tips? Some things about Russia/the language you think I should know?

Starting from zero knowledge, studying 2-3 hours a day, with lots of listening and reading material and daily practice with native speakers. Also Russian courses at university.
Any hope to speak it passably in a year?
I live in Canada, many Russians. I might visit Russia for some weeks this year.

Dude, if they've been studying the language for 4 years and still can't keep up a conversation, it just means they're natural-born knuckleheads. You can learn Mandarin in 5 years.
A friend of mine is from Georgia, the country near Russia. His name sounds Russian and he talk Russian well. A lot of times people think he's Russian and he gets very offended when that happens.
What's wrong with being called Russian?
I've been married to my husband for several years. He's from Russia and we have a son. My husband and I speak English together. Sometimes his parents speak Russian and I'm left out of conversations, but rarely. Now we're teaching our son Russian and I wonder if I should learn Russian too. I haven't been motivated, because my husband and his family speak English when I'm around. My husband's taught me some Russian words, but he didn't seem to care if I learned Russian or not. Should I learn Russian? If so, what's the easiest way to learn Russian? Should I have my husband teach me, get audio tapes at the library, or take a Russian language course?
Why are there black people living in Russia ? and do they speak russian?
on some russian music videos i watch there are black people in them and i was wandering exactly how they got there and if they all speak russian or get by speaking english in Russia
My husband immigrated to the US 12 years ago from Russia. He is looking into the Navy, specifically CTI. His step-father (who is a retired Navy recruiter) has implied that he would be able to go for Russian, but didn't mention any of the schooling information that I've found on line. What are his chances of getting to speak Russian?
ASVAB scores are well above what is needed for this rating.
i want to go to Russia in a years time, what is the chance learning it on my own and will i be able to understand if they speak to me. Do I have to get a tutor?
It is of this Ukranian band wishing you a merry Christmas in Russian (as far as I can gather - I speak Russian very badly). But what I was actually wondering was can you actually tell from their accents that they are from the Ukraine? Like, do different regions of Russia/Eastern European countries also have very different accents when they speak in Russian, and Russian speakers would be able to tell the difference?
1) Nice to know there is hope for you! I think all guys have a girl like this - one they want more than other girls. Or a girl to make them stop their womanizing ways. This girl - does she reside in Russia or America?
2) What do you value most in a girl?
3) Gavrilyuk is writing to herself on her page! Crazy.
