I am a political science major and need to take a language course in college. I have always had a strange fascination with Russian culture, history, and politics. What are some good reasons to learn the Russian language? What are the benefits of the language, especially in the field of politics/international relations? I know the language is difficult to learn when compared to Spanish, French, German, etc. However, Russian is considered the "easiest of the hard languages." I don't think I should shy away from the language, however, just because of its difficulty......

Hi there, I'm highly interested to learn Russian language. I know its tough to learn easily. But if there is any software or dictionary which I can use to learn about how to pronounce Russian words then it will be easy for me to speak.
By this time I'll also learn the Russian alphabet and how to pronounce it. So, if you know or have any idea or website link about Russian language please share with me here. I'll be really greatful to you. Thank you.

French is kinda bit easy for me but, when I see Russian symbols, I almost die. And I just wanted to learn them.
I'm from Philippines, and I can speak English very well. I tried studying french but I'm kinda bored to it. Is Russian language easy? I would like to know your opinions.

Who can tell me how I can say "have a nice flight" in russian language. Please use both Kyrril alphabet for original phrase and latin or IPA for pronunciation.
I know something like "dobroma puti". What does this exactly mean. It is spelled as it is.

By which I mean, if someone asks me which language I speak, I'll tell them, "English."
If I were to ask a German man what he speaks, he'd tell me "Deutsch." -- Not German.
A Spaniard would tell me "Español." -- Not Spanish.
So, if I were to ask a Russian which language they speak... what is their Russian word for <Russian language>.
I don't think that you can write it in Cyrillic here... but if you can, please don't, I can only read Latin characters.
Thanks much.

it seems that russian has some similar words with the romance languages. i can speak spanish a bit so i difficult would it be?
also, do i have to learn cyrilic alphabet to learn russian? basically i just want to communicate enough with my future russian wife.
i like the sound of the russian language so i prefer to communicate with my wife with russian, not english.

I just got a part time job offer to help this girl learn Russian. She was adopted by an American family when she was 8 and was speaking Russian fluently, now she is 15 and barely remembers it. I want to teach her how to speak again but more importantly I want her to have the tools to continue using her Russian language throughout her life. I want to know if anyone has any good ideas of how someone can continue to converse in their Native language when they do not have family or friends that speak it anymore?

I was wondering if people of Alaska, Russian or America, who practice Russian Orthodox, practice their religion in English or Russian language? Is the Russian Orthodox community mostly Russians? In that case are the services done in Russian? Or is the community more diverse and Americans attend the services too? So my question is: are the services mostly done in Russian or English?
Does Russian Orthodoxy take Exorcism as seriously as the Roman Catholics? are they afraid of demons?
