You need a bilingual dictionary, thesaurus, movies, a good novel with lots of conversation, some music, a cd player or i-pod, weekly newspapers, a german or russian conversation group like the ones through the messenger, a pen pal, and everything that in which you can practice the language. Most of these you can find at the library for free.

Hah, Russian is a very challenging language, but good luck. I found this site when i was learning. Gives you an idea of how it works.

Keep an open mind when learning Russian and German, both have things that the English language doesn't. It's not easy but make sure you practice

You can give a try to Flash Card Factory software which can help you to improve your vocabulary knowledge.

It is a free tool and open web project for everybody, after you download and install the program than you need to choose the suitable database from their web site and run it.That’s it ..Additionally program is customizable which means you can add your custom vocabularies! So you can use it for every language in the world.I have seen its benefit and recommend to you as well .

Hi 008!

Get Byki! It's free and definitely my go-to software for language learning. They have both German and Russian for your teen!

One of the things I like about it is that it really makes it fun to go through the vocab and phrases challenging yourself to get it right- even better is that it remembers which words you have trouble on and helps you out with them. Definitely two thumbs up.

After using Byki to get a good feel for the language, try out LiveMocha. Its a social website full of people from all sorts of different places around the world who all want to learn new languages!
