What are the differences between Molokan Russian (language) and regular Russian?
I would like to know the differences in the language that Russian Molokans speak compared to just regular Russian. For example: "God" in regular Russian is "Бог" while "God" in the Molokan Russian is "Спотсе" (sp?)
The Russian Molokans are a religious group originally from Russia, who because of religious freedom, migrated to Guadalupe, Baja California in 1805. This might help someone answer my question ( :

I’m native Russian and never heared about any Russian Molokans.
But there is exixst an old Russian language mostly used in religeious ceremonies. E.G. Бог = Господь (from the господин – master). Actually nobody knows this language even ghospell singers (it’s VERY differ from regular Russian). It’s just tooked from old religious books for spelling.

with your new info I can understand that you talking about people that we call here in Russia – Староверы or Раскольники. But anyway the most part of this religeous people had been moved within the Russia. See http://www.molokane.org/molokan/index.html
I don’t think thiere langueage much differ from relular but as far as I know there exists some groups of people in deep siberia that really were isolated from the rest of the world and it’s possible that now thiere Russian is very different from current language.

What a great question! I haven’t heard of the Molokans before – learn something new every day:)
I’ve read some of their web pages. Russian language used there seems to be modern (regular). I even saw the word "Бог" used.
I hope this helps.
I’ve never heard of Molokan Russians…I’m guessing it’s some sort of old Russian type of thing, and if so, yes it would be pretty different from normal Russian
