Most people could speak Russian language in that 15 former communistic countries. After USSR collapsed, most countries started to develop their own language, literature and culture.
Difference mostly in accent and dialects. Ukraine people speak quiet in different accent, Belarus have different one.
My Russian friend from Uzbekistan, who was born in Uzbekistan and his parents are Russians visited Moscow last year. He told me that difference between Uzbek Russian and Moscow Russian are very big. He said Moscow population can easily tell you which country you are coming from…Ukraine, Belarus, (they can find it out by your accent. I guess)….
And I am sure there are many dialects within Russia as well. Former president Boris Eltsin had quit different accent as well when he was speaking (doesn’t matter how sober or drunk).
I speak Russian with many Russian speaking guys from different countries, and usually we understand each other well. Difference only in accent!
Unlike Chinese or Arabic, Russian and English are pretty same on whole territory. Pronunciation and accent may differ slightly, and ppl from Moscow may easily tell if someone is from Ukraine by their accent. But you’ll hardly notice accent difference between accents in Moscow and Yekaterinburg.
In short – there is no big difference.
Hi!
Russian language spoken in Ukraine has some ukrainian words in it and typical accent.
Tatars from countryside Tatarstan speak russian with noticeable accent too, but anywhere else it’s pretty much the same.
