I support the answer given by the first poster and do not agree with the suggestion of the latter.
Firstly, we need to clarify what "infatuation" signify. Namely, it is the state of being infatuated; a foolish passion, etc. Infatuation and crush are alike in denoting a special kind of affection or love. Both are absorbing, extravagant, often unreasoning and unreasonable sentiments, usually as short life as they are fierce in intensity. There is also a difference between "crush" and "infatuation" in that the former almost always designates the feelings of a younger person and the latter those of someone more mature.
In brief, "infatuation" cannot be seen as a synonym of "obsession" and the most fitting and unpretentious translation to Russian language is " увлечение" ( which is closely associated with enthusiasm, fondness, etc). It is also very closely related to a couple of other Russian words: страсть ( passion) and любовь ( love, affection).
Hope that helps!
Увлечение
If it is synonym for "obsession", then it is written as following:
"одержимость"-
"o-de-rje-most’ "
