What kind of people are Russian mobsters? What kind of people get into this business?
Im doing some short essay on what kind of people join the russian mafia and what kind of people get into it. My question is when someone decides to become that kind of criminal what is his motives? Will he go to college and get a higher degree? or will he turn his back to society and just become a full force criminal awaiting prison? Are these people intelligent? Im talking about Russian criminals in America and Russia. Would someone who moved from Russia to America be a mafia type is that like what they are looking for in America? please help thanks

Firstly, we need to divide the ‘Russian mafia’ termin and the Russian nationality which are almost absolutely different things. The ‘Russian mafia’ termin came to Russia from the West and we never heard it before. It because of all that comes from former USSR republics calls as ‘Russian’ but it’s wrong. Secondly, people who join the RM actually aren’t Russians by their nationality. Most of them are Jews,Armenians,Georgians and people of other nationalities who lived with Russians in one country – in the USSR in the past. After the USSR fall some of them emigrated to the West and started make their bad things there. (By the way, that people make their crimes in Russia too) It doesn’t mean that there are no Russians in the RM but most of them are not Russians, not the same people who live in modern Russia.
What kind of that people? Different kinds, I think. And intelligent too,of course. What reason they have to make crimes? Money, I’m 100% sure, easy money
