What language is easier to learn for an English-speaking person? Japanese or Russian?
I'm an English-speaking college student, and I want to know which language would be easier for me to learn? I know Russian is spoken with the throat, rather than the tongue and lips, and that Japanese verbs and parts of speech can be VERY confusing, and despite these, I've pursued some basics in both languages. I'm on the fence between the two of them, and just want to know which one I might have an easier time with.

Well, you are mistaken about the "throat thing" in Russian – there are may be only a few sounds, no more then that.
Even though the alphabet is in "Cyrillic", but it still much easier to learn then Japanese.
That’s why I think that Russian is definitely easier.
Russian.
For an English Speaking person…? mmm probably Russian ^_^
My husband is learning Russian (minoring) and my brother-in-law majored in Japanese. I was told Russian is easier.
I was having a similar conversation with some friends last week. I’m a Russian major, and they take Japanese, and through the conversation, we decided that Russian was easier. It’s by no means easy, but at least there’s only one alphabet.
