Learning Russian (I know nuffin about Latin):

Rosetta Stone is good if you already know the Cyrillic (Russian) alphabet really well. Everything in this software is written in Russian, even the menus!

If you're not comfy with the basics yet then there are a zillion books you can pick up. I have used Rachel Farmers "Beginner's Russian" which is quite user friendly and comes with a CD.

The New Penguin Russian Course is a very popular book but is REALLY heavy on the grammar, it scares me. Great as a reference but gives me a headache if I try to absorb too much in one go :)

I'm putting a free learning resource together to help people learn Russian. It's only launched 10 days ago so it doesn't have heaps of lessons yet, but it can start you in the right direction.

But use it in conjunction with a book because you need to know the theory too.

Hope that helps,

Jonathon.

Rosetta Stone has great programs. They are a little pricey, but much cheaper than a class and you can do it at your own pace. You might be able to find some a used copy if price is a major concern.

Their method involves only pictures, no english translations. It helps me learn and memorize vocabulary so much faster.

They, obviously, only have Russian.
