Why do I speak Japanese better than Russian?
I'm half Russian half Native American, I grew up speaking both English and Russian. I had to learn Japanese for a foreign exchange trip with my school to spend a month in Japan with 20 other students. I've recently noticed when I speak Japanese it sounds like I've grown up there but when I speak Russian it's kind of lousy, like I'm just beginning to learn. Why is this? Is this normal?

Krys,
Maybe you did not get a chance to practice Russian recently, hence the feeling of speaking it lousy. Can’t say without hearing you, but practice is the key to success. Invest a little time and refresh your Russian.
Good luck!
It happens alot. My friends daughter is half mexican half colombian and she can’t speak spanish very well. It all depends on how much you desire to learn something. Look at me for instance, I come from an all english family and am the only one who also speaks spanish. When i talk to someone on the phone in spanish and then they see me in person they get really confused lol. So don’t worry its normal.
